Twist Bioscience is looking for a Director, Commercial Operations to lead, scale, and optimize key operating disciplines across our global commercial organization. In this role, you will lead cross-functional process improvements, oversee sales and project management operations, establish commercial reporting standards, and partner with executive leadership to drive scalable growth and an insights-driven sales approach.
What You’ll Be Doing: Manage Commercial Operations team consisting of Customer Master Data Specialist, Process Improvement, Sales Operation, Business Management, and Project Management Teams. Lead cross-functional process improvements projects (pricing strategy, discount governance, contracting) and implement new process (i.e., multi-currency and Distributor Flow enhancement). Create a center of excellence for Commercial Reporting. Develop and implement strategic plans to improve performance in all aspects of Commercial Operations. Partner with Sales and Marketing to evaluate new technology that could improve sales and marketing operations. Structure, develop, and implement scalable process and procedures to implement an insights-driven commercial approach and top-tier Customer engagement. Participate in hiring, training, and ongoing coaching of leadership staff to ensure execution of sales performance. Conducts sales performance reviews on a regular schedule. Partners with HR in all employee relation activities including Process Improvement plans, coaching, steps of discipline and termination. Determining staffing needs based on workload requirements and recruiting and hiring staff accordingly. Available as resource and mentor to leadership and team members. Assess whether current sales strategies are sufficient for meeting company sales goals. Support lead governance and handoff process from Digital Marketing, ISS, and Field Sales to ensure smooth handoff and reporting capability. Collaborate cross-organizationally to create a robust performance and opportunity metrics that the Executive Team will use to make informed decisions surrounding commercial and go-to-market strategy. What You’ll Bring to the TeamDegree in Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field 10+ years of progressive commercial and technical experience in the life sciences/biotech space 5+ years in managerial and supervisory roles leading cross-functional teams. Demonstrated expertise in sales planning, forecasting, pipeline management, CRM systems (Salesforce), commercial analytics, and process improvement within a fast-paced B2B environment. Twist Bioscience is a leading synthetic biology and genomics company that has developed a disruptive DNA synthesis platform to industrialize the engineering of biology. The core of the platform is a proprietary technology that pioneers a new method of manufacturing synthetic DNA by “writing” DNA on a silicon chip. Twist uses this platform to serve customers working in healthcare, agriculture, industrial chemicals, academic research and beyond, with products spanning synthetic genes and oligos, NGS target enrichment, and antibody discovery and development services. The base cash compensation for this California-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations. $224,000 - $289,000 USD
