About the role
Outside Sales Representative — Industrial Automation Aftermarket | Greater Milwaukee to St. PaulA well-established, growing provider of aftermarket services for industrial automation systems is hiring its first dedicated Outside Sales Representative for the Greater Milwaukee to St. Paul territory. This is a genuine growth hire, not a backfill, and it comes with real ownership of how the region is developed. The business already has solid revenue and inside sales coverage across the territory. What's missing is a visible, local, relationship led presence to build on that platform, open new accounts and grow it into a much bigger piece of the map. You won't be starting from zero, but you will be the one who decides where it goes from here.
What you'll be doing:
You'll own new business development across the territory, identifying, approaching and converting manufacturing customers who need support keeping automation and CNC equipment running. You'll be building relationships with maintenance managers, engineers, automation teams and senior decision makers, and you'll need to be just as comfortable on the shop floor as you are in the boardroom. Expect regular customer site visits, a pipeline you manage with real discipline, and close partnership with inside sales and support teams to get deals over the line.
What you'll bring:
Ideally five or more years of B2B sales experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, machine tools, tooling, MRO or maintenance components (three to five years will be considered for the right person), with a track record of winning new accounts rather than just managing existing ones. You should be able to talk through recent wins in detail, from how you found the opportunity to how you closed it. An existing network across Wisconsin or the Milwaukee to St. Paul corridor is a bonus, not a requirement. Robotics knowledge helps, but understanding manufacturing environments and technical products matters more.
What's in it for you:
Base salary of $65,000 plus commission, with a realistic first year on target earning of around $150,000 and no cap on what you can earn beyond that as the territory grows. You'll report to a senior sales leader who backs the team with support rather than supervision, so if you want genuine autonomy to plan your own territory and bring your own ideas, this is built for that. Add to that a business investing in its sales culture, leadership and long term growth, and a territory with real room to expand into wider regional responsibility over time. If you're someone who thrives on building something rather than maintaining it, and you can point to a real history of opening doors and winning business in manufacturing markets, we'd like to hear from you.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
