Job Summary:
The Quality Control Supervisor designs, plans, and implements quality control programs designed to ensure products meet and/or exceed the required quality and technical standards within the region. The Quality Control Supervisor oversees a team to provide expert technical support to all area plants, job sites, and customers. The ideal candidate has a diverse background covering cement, ready mix concrete, aggregate, and admixtures. This background will enable the Quality Control Supervisor to work with the different business units to meet the objectives of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Compliance:
Maintain quality control procedures for ready-mix concrete.
Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and project-specific specifications.
Review mix designs and approve materials and proportions for production.
Monitor concrete performance data and address quality deviations promptly.
Prepare and maintain QC documentation, reports, and certifications.
Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and assist QC staff. Ensure technicians are properly certified (ACI, state, or DOT as required).Promote a culture of safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Production & Operations Support:
Work closely with batch plant operators and production teams to resolve quality issues.
Assist in troubleshooting plant, material, or mix-related problems.
Support new product development, mix optimization, and cost-efficiency initiatives.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience 2-5 years of experience in ready-mix concrete QC preferred but not required.
Prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
Certifications:
- (Preferred or Required)ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade IACI Strength Testing Technician - preferred Skills & Competencies
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective leadership and communication abilities.
- Proficient in QC software, spreadsheets, and report preparation.
- Ability to work in both laboratory and field environments.
- Strong knowledge of concrete materials, mix design, and testing methods.
Working Conditions:
Combination of laboratory, plant, and jobsite environments.
Exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.
May require early mornings, occasional weekends, and travel between plants or jobsites.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry testing equipment (up to ~50 lbs).Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods.
