Serra Automotive is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its Corporate Headquarters team in downtown Fenton, Michigan. This is a broad corporate finance role with enterprise-wide visibility — reporting directly to the [CFO / VP of Finance] and working alongside ownership, dealer principals, and store-level leadership on the work that drives a $5 billion organization.
Founded in 1973, Serra Automotive is the 6th largest privately owned dealer group in the United States ranked by sales volume (Automotive News, April 2026). Serra operates 63 franchised dealerships representing 91 automotive brands across 28 campuses in 8 states.
What You'll Do:
This is not a single-function job. The Senior Financial Analyst works across planning, analysis, transactions, and controls, and the mix shifts as the group grows and acquires. Responsibilities include:
Annual budgeting and forecastingfor individual dealerships and for the consolidated enterprise, working directly with dealer principals and corporate leadership to build and defend the plan.
Ongoing analysis of dealership financial statementsidentifying performance outliers across 63 rooftops, benchmarking stores against one another and against manufacturer composites, and partnering with store management on corrective action.
Due diligence on dealership acquisitions, including financial and operational analysis, quality-of-earnings review, and post-close integration support as the group continues to expand.
Internal audit procedurescovering accounting controls and operational processes, including: Dealership bank reconciliations, credit card statements, and payment processes
Vehicle and parts physical inventory observations and reconciliations
Compliance testing and training for OSHA, HR, and dealership-specific state and federal regulationsAnnual liability insurance renewals workcompiling exposure data and supporting the corporate risk management process.
Tax compliance support, supporting quarterly tax payments and annual return filings in coordination with outside advisors.
Dealership Management System (DMS) support, troubleshooting, training and new store setups.
Special projectsassigned by ownership and executive leadership. These change continuously and are often the most interesting part of the job.
TravelSerra operates dealerships in 8 states, and this role requires overnight travel and multi-day assignments at Michigan and out-of-state stores. Assignments generally pair on-site dealership work with follow-up analysis performed from the Headquarters office.
What We're Looking For:
RequiredRetail automotive industry experience — ideally as an office manager or controller of a franchised dealership, or equivalent multi-entity retail finance experience
Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement analysis
Advanced Excel skills; proficiency with Word and standard office software
Familiarity with one or more DMS platforms (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, DealerTrack, or similar)
The self-direction to run assignments independently in the field, paired with a genuine willingness to collaborate with the corporate and dealership teams
Pre-employment drug screening and background check
PreferredBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Public accounting experience and/or CPA designation
Experience with multi-entity consolidations, acquisition integration, or accounting systems implementation
Exposure to basic uses of Artificial Intelligence (Serra uses Claude.ai)
Exposure to business intelligence and reporting tools
Total compensation of $150,000–$200,000annually, based on education, certifications, and prior experience
