Job Summary: Neurologist (BC/BE) - Federal Health Care Center, North Chicago, IL Contract: 6 months + 6-month option - 1.0 FTE - Onsite + telephonic call - Target start: October 19, 2026 (pending credentialing) Aptive Resources is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Neurologist to provide inpatient and outpatient neurology services to Veterans at a federal health care center in North Chicago, IL. This is an urgent, newly created contract need - no incumbent - with the opportunity to make an immediate impact on Veteran care. ScheduleClinic/inpatient hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Telephonic on-call (rotation): weeknights (4:30 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.), weekends (Friday 4:30 p.m. - Monday 8:00 a.m.) and 24-hour holiday coverage Must answer calls within 15 minutes and be onsite within 60 minutes for emergencies Weekend rounding (consults and follow-ups) during assigned coverage Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide outpatient neurology clinic care and E-Consults Perform inpatient consults and follow-ups; round in the ICU, inpatient units and Emergency Department as requested Perform procedures within your credentials and privileges Order, follow up on and communicate test results to patients Supervise residents and co-sign consult notes within 24 hours Document in the electronic health record immediately after each encounter; complete outpatient encounter forms the same day Practice shared decision-making with patients and families
Minimum Qualifications: MD or DO; Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology Full, active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory or DC Current BLS (American Heart Association) Current malpractice coverage (or willingness to be covered) Proficient in written and spoken English; computer literate Able to pass a federal background investigation, fingerprinting and credentialing Live or stay within 60 minutes of North Chicago, IL during call coverage PreferredBotox injection training EEG reading experience Oracle Cerner EHR experience Prior VA, DoD or federal health care experience Why this roleServe Veterans at a joint federal health care center Stable 6-month contract with extension option Credentialing support from Aptive Resources Competitive hourly rate for clinic time plus on-call, call-back and holiday pay About AptiveArrow ARC supports Veterans Health Administration facilities and offices across the U.S. with health care staffing and program support via the 10-year Integrated Critical Staffing Program (ICSP).
