PostgreSQL / AWS RDS Database Administrator - (AWS Aurora, Redshift) - Hybrid in Charlotte - W2 Contract Optomi, in partnership with one of the nation’s largest energy and utility organizations, is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL Database Engineer to fulfill a contract position with a client based in Charlotte, NC.The ideal candidate will bring deep PostgreSQL expertise and experience managing large-scale, production database environments within AWS. This individual will help own and support an extensive PostgreSQL footprint consisting of hundreds of databases hosted within Amazon RDS. The role will focus heavily on database performance, reliability, automation, backup and recovery, and ongoing maintenance. What the Right Professional Will Enjoy! Apply Today If Your Background Includes: 10+ years of professional database administration, engineering, or related experience. Extensive hands-on experience administering and supporting PostgreSQL databases in enterprise production environments. Strong experience supporting large PostgreSQL environments with hundreds of databases and/or large database clusters. Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL running within Amazon RDS.Advanced PostgreSQL performance tuning and troubleshooting experience. Strong knowledge of indexing, query optimization, execution plans, locking, connections, vacuuming, and database resource utilization. Experience designing and automating database maintenance processes. Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies. Experience with scripting and automation tools used to manage database environments at scale. Ability to independently troubleshoot complex database performance and availability issues. Experience with monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, and database health management. ESRI geodatabase experience is a plus, but not required.
