About the role

Extrusion LeadThe Extrusion Lead is responsible for leading extrusion production operations during an assigned shift while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency goals are achieved. This role serves as a working leader, coordinating employees, equipment, and materials to support continuous manufacturing operations. The Extrusion Lead provides direction to production team members, promotes a safe and organized work environment, and helps optimize extrusion processes to meet customer requirements and operational objectives. This position reports to the Extrusion Supervisor.
What you will be doing: Review production orders and communicate customer specifications and operating requirements to the production team. Lead daily extrusion operations to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and meet customer quality requirements. Direct and support extrusion press operators and production employees throughout the shift. Audit and enforce safety and housekeeping standards while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Conduct daily shift meetings to review safety, production performance, and operational priorities. Train and cross-train employees to build workforce flexibility and support production coverage needs. Identify opportunities to improve extrusion performance, reduce scrap, optimize production output, and resolve operational issues. What will make you successful?
Required Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 3 years of experience in high-speed extrusion operations. Minimum of 2 years of leadership, training, or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment. Strong working knowledge of extrusion processes and manufacturing operations.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications: Experience driving process improvements, reducing scrap, and optimizing production performance. Technical training related to manufacturing, extrusion, or industrial operations. Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development skills. Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain production records and operational information. Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels through both written and verbal communication. Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) are a plus. Experience maintaining a strong safety culture and enforcing operational standards.
