Job Description: Data Center Fiber Technician We are seeking experienced Fiber Technicians for inside plant (ISP) fiber optic work within active data center environments. This position will focus on fiber installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining high-density fiber infrastructure.
Responsibilities: Install, route, dress, label, and manage fiber optic cabling within data centers Perform fiber testing and certification using OTDR, optical power meters, and light sources Troubleshoot fiber connectivity issues, signal loss, high attenuation, and damaged fiber Test and verify fiber links to ensure they meet project specifications Perform fiber terminations, splicing, connector cleaning, and inspection as needed Work with Single-Mode (SM) and Multi-Mode (MM) fiber Install and maintain fiber patch panels, enclosures, cassettes, and distribution systems Patch and troubleshoot fiber connections between racks, cabinets, and network equipment Read and follow fiber schedules, drawings, port maps, and labeling standards Document test results and completed work accurately Maintain proper bend radius, cable management, and fiber handling practices Follow data center safety, security, and quality-control procedures
Qualifications: Previous experience performing inside plant fiber work, preferably in a data center environment Strong understanding of fiber optic cabling, connectors, and testing procedures Experience using OTDRs, optical power meters, VFLs, and fiber inspection/cleaning equipment Ability to troubleshoot and isolate fiber faults Familiarity with LC, SC, MPO/MTP, and other common fiber connector types Knowledge of Single-Mode and Multi-Mode fiber Ability to read prints, fiber schedules, and labeling documentation Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-security, mission-critical environment
Preferred Experience: Experience with hyperscale or mission-critical data centers, high-density fiber environments, fiber splicing, MPO/MTP systems, and Fluke, EXFO, Viavi, or similar fiber testing equipment is highly preferred. \nCompany DescriptionSOLID Personnel is a niche specific skilled trades recruiting & staffing firm founded in 2013.
