Salary range: $50,000 - $65,000 Janel Group is seeking a Customs Entry Writer (LAX) to join our team! This is an onsite position at our LAX location. Key Qualifications: Required 3+ years of experience in Customs Brokerage, Customs Clearance, Freight Forwarding, logistics, transportation, or related operations. Customs Entry Preparation & Customs Clearance experience REQUIRED.Customs Brokerage Clearance experience REQUIRED.Hands-on CargoWise experience REQUIRED.Strong knowledge of U.S. import customs procedures, documentation, and entry requirements. Ability to work onsite at the LAX location. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments, entries, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Microsoft Office Suite experience, preferred. Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, preferred.
Primary Responsibilities: Prepare, review, and submit U.S. customs entries for import shipments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable CBP regulations. Coordinate customs brokerage and clearance activities from receipt of documentation through customs release. Review import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading/air waybills, and other required documents, to ensure completeness and accuracy. Enter and maintain customs and shipment data in CargoWise, ensuring all information and documentation is accurate and up to date. Classify merchandise and verify HTS codes, country of origin, value, and other entry information as required for customs clearance. Communicate with customers, customs brokers, carriers, overseas agents, and CBP to resolve entry discrepancies, holds, exams, and clearance issues. Monitor customs entries and shipment status to ensure timely clearance and delivery. Identify and proactively resolve customs delays, holds, documentation issues, and other exceptions. Calculate and/or verify duties, taxes, fees, and other applicable customs charges and support billing accuracy. Maintain accurate records of customs entries, releases, supporting documentation, and shipment activity in accordance with company procedures. Stay current on applicable U.S. Customs requirements, import regulations, and company compliance procedures. Provide customers with timely updates regarding customs clearance status, delays, holds, and estimated release dates. Work closely with internal operations and transportation teams to coordinate final delivery following customs release. Coordinate with customs brokerage teams to resolve entry discrepancies, customs holds, exams, and other clearance issues. Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable import regulations.
