Position Information
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Housekeeping experience.
Ability to take initiative, exercise good judgement, and follow instructions.
Learn to handle multiple tasks and tight deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from all sectors of the community and a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Must be discreet about Meadow Brook Estate’s collections and business and maintain confidentiality of Meadow Brook Estate’s information.
Flexibility to work evenings, Holidays and weekends.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Desired Qualifications:
Trained on or familiar with museum protocols for cleaning and moving collection items.
Experience working within a historic structure or museum setting.
Familiarity with historic preservation techniques.
All Qualifications:
Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.
Position Details
Position Purpose:
Under the supervision of the curator, this position cleans historical interior elements, rooms, and collections at Meadow Brook Estate, ensuring a safe, clean environment for Meadow Brook Hall’s historical resources.
This position will carry out routine building and collections care duties according to schedules and seasonal needs. The person will identify the need for any non-routine building maintenance or repairs and consult with the Curator to determine appropriate procedures with regard to historic preservation guidelines and standards.
This position will support the Curator with handling collection objects, prepping for special displays and exhibits.
The person’s schedule will balance the needs of collections care, education, interpretation, and visitor safety and experience. The holder of this position will have a team approach and work well with staff, volunteers, and the public.
