Role Description: The Lighting Control Systems Technician is a full-time, on-site role. This role is responsible for installing, configuring, and programming lighting and shade control systems for residential projects, ensuring seamless integration with other home technologies. Day-to-day tasks include performing diagnostic tests, identifying and resolving technical issues, and completing preventive maintenance to keep systems operating reliably. The technician collaborates closely with designers, project managers, and installers to implement project plans, document system configurations, and support system upgrades. The role also involves providing user training and ongoing technical support to clients, delivering clear guidance on system features and operation while maintaining high standards of customer service and safety.
Qualifications: Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for lighting control and smart home systems. Experience providing technical support to clients and internal teams, including clear communication of technical concepts. Hands-on expertise in maintenance & repair of low-voltage control systems and related equipment. Ability to perform preventive maintenance to maximize system reliability and lifespan. Experience delivering user training on system operation, features, and best practices. Familiarity with Lutron or similar lighting/shade control platforms is highly beneficial. Basic understanding of electrical principles, system wiring, and safety standards. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation documentation. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects. Comfort working on-site in residential environments, sometimes with flexible hours as projects require. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client locations as needed. Relevant technical certification or vocational training in electronics, low-voltage systems, or related field preferred; comparable hands-on experience also valued.
