The successful candidate will serve as the chief administrative officer, responsible for the academic program, student success, recruitment, budgeting, and fostering relationships with educational partners, industry, the community, and alumni. This role involves leading accreditation efforts, promoting excellence in teaching and learning, and ensuring the alignment of the program with the university's mission and vision.
The Chairperson will also be involved in the development and facilitation of undergraduate and graduate programming, as well as presiding over faculty meetings and participating in the development of academic policies. Applicants for the Chairperson position should have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, with a preference for a faculty rank of Associate Professor. A minimum of 2 years' leadership experience at the unit, college, or university level is required.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, particularly in the areas of cyber security, computer forensics, network security, network engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, digital gaming, and information systems. Essential skills include comprehensive knowledge of SACS and ABET accreditation standards, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills. The role also demands the ability to work with diverse stakeholders and a commitment to student-centered, active learning pedagogy.
