About the role

Company Description: By Glover is an embedded financial advisory and holding company that integrates accounting and strategic finance into a single, unified team. The organization builds and manages financial infrastructure for portfolio companies backed by private equity, venture capital, and family offices. Its services span from establishing clean, reliable books to producing investor-ready board packages that support informed decision-making. By Glover focuses on long-term partnership, operational excellence, and scalable financial systems that help growing companies navigate complex financial environments.
Role Description: The Principal of Accounting is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading the accounting function across multiple portfolio companies. This role oversees the preparation and review of financial statements, manages month-end and year-end close processes, and ensures accurate general ledger maintenance. The Principal of Accounting will design and refine accounting workflows, implement controls, and support audit and compliance activities. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with strategic finance and advisory teams, guiding junior accounting staff, and translating financial data into clear insights for investors and executive leadership. The role also involves working directly with client stakeholders to understand their business needs, support board and investor reporting, and contribute to the continuous improvement of By Glover’s financial infrastructure.
Qualifications: Strong expertise in financial accounting, including general ledger management, month-end close, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements. Experience in building and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and policies for growth-stage or portfolio companies. Background working with private equity, venture capital, or family office–backed organizations, including familiarity with investor reporting and board packages. Consumer packaged goods (CPG) experience is a strong plus, particularly inventory and cost accounting, COGS and gross margin analysis, trade spend and promotional accruals, and revenue deductions such as chargebacks, slotting fees, and retailer deductions. Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems, and comfort working with cloud-based financial tools and data management platforms. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor accounting teams, manage multiple stakeholders, and operate independently in a remote environment. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial audiences. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification preferred; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Prior experience in a principal, controller, or senior accounting leadership role, ideally in multi-entity or multi-client settings.
Compensation: $150,000–$180,000 base salary, plus a 5–10% annual performance bonus. Final offer based on experience and technical depth.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
