As our company continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Construction Purchasing Manager to oversee and strengthen our purchasing operations.
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Construction Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing, procurement, vendor management, and cost control for our residential construction projects. This role is responsible for reviewing plans, evaluating bids, negotiating pricing, selecting vendors and subcontractors, managing contracts and POs, maintaining project budgets, and ensuring materials and services are purchased accurately and on schedule. The ideal candidate is organized, cost-conscious, strong in vendor relationships, and comfortable using Buildertrend, Quick Books, Excel, and modern technology to improve processes and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review construction plans and specifications to determine material and labor requirements.* Obtain, compare, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor bids.* Select and maintain a strong network of qualified vendors and contractors.* Manage contracts, scopes of work, purchase orders, and purchasing documentation.* Establish and maintain project budgets and bid pricing.* Monitor project costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.* Review and incorporate change orders into project budgets.* Coordinate selections, orders, deliveries, returns, and exchanges.* Maintain accurate purchasing and cost information in Buildertrend and Quick Books.* Collaborate with Product Development, Design, Construction, and Accounting on pricing and budgets.* Track deliveries, resolve purchasing issues, and ensure materials meet project specifications.* Implement technology, automation, and AI to improve purchasing efficiency.
Qualifications:
* 5+ years of residential construction purchasing/procurement experience.* Strong knowledge of construction plans, materials, labor, and subcontractor scopes.* Proven bid evaluation, negotiation, and vendor-management experience.* Strong organizational, analytical, and cost-control skills.* Buildertrend experience preferred.* Strong Quick Books and Excel skills.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.* Technology-minded with a focus on process improvement.
