Role Description: The Payroll Specialist is a part-time remote role responsible for supporting accurate and timely payroll processing for Devoted Health team members. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and reviewing payroll data, validating timesheets and compensation changes, and ensuring compliance with payroll tax regulations and company policies. The role involves managing garnishments and other payroll-related deductions, coordinating with payroll service providers, and responding to employee payroll inquiries with clear and respectful communication. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate with HR, Finance, and other stakeholders to maintain payroll records, support audits, and contribute to process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and employee experience.
Qualifications: Experience with payroll administration and payroll processing, including handling multi-state or complex payroll structures. Knowledge of payroll taxes and working with payroll services to ensure compliance and accurate filings. Ability to manage garnishments and other statutory or court-ordered deductions with attention to detail and confidentiality. Strong analytical and numerical skills, with proficiency in spreadsheets and payroll/HRIS systems. High level of accuracy, organization, and time management, especially when working independently in a remote environment. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain payroll concepts to non-specialists. Understanding of basic employment and wage laws; experience in healthcare or insurance environments is a plus. Relevant education or certification in Accounting, Finance, Business, HR, or related field; formal payroll certification (e.g., CPP or FPC) is an advantage.
