full time, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pmJob Summary
The Exercise Physiologist interacts with patients to perform and interpret stress electrocardiograms, assist with PET CT, patient callbacks as well as place patient monitors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Fully understands all stress tests (Exercise stress cardiolite, Lexiscan cardiolite, dobutamine stress cardiolite, plain stress, exercise stress echo, dobutamine stress echo, cardiac PET scan).Takes blood pressure and connects patient for EKG.Performs stress EKG, as ordered by physicians, in accordance with established practices and procedures. Interprets EKG results. Understands when to consult with physician, i.e. complications during test, patient unable to complete test. Prepares and communicates effectively with the patient regarding procedure performed while considering the needs of the patient. Addresses issues with patient care and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the issues. Reports pertinent information or changes of patient’s condition to physician when necessary. Assists with patient testing callbacks. Demonstrates exceptional care and compassion in all interactions with patients. Maintains equipment including cleaning and disinfecting. Reports equipment problems to the appropriate resource for diagnosis and repair. Floats between CPPA locations, as needed. Works with nuclear tech to order supplies when needed.
Educational Requirement and Qualifications:
Graduate of a formal Exercise Physiology program or related field. Minimum 2 year’s experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform quality and complete stress EKG’s.
Possess excellent organizational skills to perform in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Excellent time management skills with ability to organize daily assignments and meet deadlines.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while remaining calm and committed to excellence.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of standing and bending during studies.
Finger dexterity to perform duties such as connecting EKG’s, typing or writing.
Ability to speak and hear.
Must be able to lift up to, and at times in excess of, 25 pounds.
