About the role

VP/Director, North America Strategic Business Development – AI Data Center (AIDC) Energy Storage
Location: United States (Remote / Field-based) |About Vision Group Vision Group is a globally recognized leader in energy storage and battery systems. Our UPS business is now a global leader, powering data centers, telecom, and industrial backup applications worldwide, and our lithium and lead-acid platforms serve customers across more than 100 countries. We are now bringing that heritage into the North American AI Data Center (AIDC) market with next-generation Backup Battery Unit (BBU) and 800V HVDC backup-power solutions — and building our go-to-market motion from the ground up.
The Opportunity: North America is entering the largest AI compute build-out in history. Hyperscalers (Microsoft, Meta, Google, AWS) are re-architecting data centers around 800V HVDC buses and lithium-ion backup power, and the supplier shortlists are being written right now. We are hiring a VP-level strategic BD leader whose job is to open the door — to activate an established hyperscaler network, land Vision Group on the approved-vendor shortlists, and convert relationships into qualification. This is a relationship-driven, market-entry role, not a large-team management position: you lead with your network and your standing in the industry, backed by our internal R&D, certification, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
Market Intelligence & Customer Mapping: Track North American AIDC project dynamics (under construction, planned, and expanding), and maintain a living project intelligence database covering capacity, capex, timeline, and power-supply architecture. Use your network to deconstruct hyperscaler org structures and decision chains, and to identify the technical and procurement stakeholders who control supplier selection.
Brand & Thought Leadership: Lend your personal industry credibility to establish Vision Group's brand in the North American AIDC energy-storage space, anchored by our global UPS leadership. Represent the company in standards bodies such as the Open Compute Project (OCP); author and place technical white papers; build voice and trust through analyst and media relationships.
Certifications & Compliance: Drive and accelerate UL 9540A system-level, IEEE 1547 interconnection, and OCP compatibility certifications, orchestrating internal R&D and external certification bodies to keep milestones parallel with product development through the 2027–2028 window. Hyperscaler Qualification & Commercial Enablement (core mandate) Open the door with Microsoft, Meta, Google, and other hyperscalers, leveraging existing relationships to win a place on their approved-vendor shortlists. Lead lab sample scheduling, on-site audits, and commercial negotiations through to qualification, acting as the senior, trusted face of Vision Group to hyperscaler executives.
Qualifications: 8+ years in data-center power or energy storage, with direct, hands-on North America hyperscaler market-entry or key-account experience. Activatable hyperscaler relationships (Microsoft, Meta, Google, AWS) — you know the decision-makers, not just the market. Proven "certification-to-qualification" track record: have led at least one product through the full UL 9540A system-level certification lifecycle, with practical experience in UL 1973 and OCP or NVIDIA ecosystem admission. Fluent in AIDC power-supply architecture; able to hold technical conversations with hyperscaler engineering and procurement teams. English as a working language with strong cross-cultural business acumen. Established industry network across customers, certification bodies, analysts, and trade media in the AIDC / data-center power space. An operator who thrives with autonomy and minimal overhead — this role is about opening doors through relationships, not managing a large organization.
What We Offer: A highly competitive compensation package — base salary, performance-linked qualification bonus, and meaningful founding-member equity. A VP-level mandate to own North America market-entry strategy and open the hyperscaler front door, with the full backing of our internal R&D, certification, and commercial teams. The rare chance to convert your existing relationships into a category-defining win. Vision Group is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
