About the role
Job Description:
Job Description A Hoist Operator controls motorized or hydraulic machinery to safely lift, lower, and transport heavy loads, materials, or personnel in industrial, construction, or mining settings.
Responsibilities:
Operate power-driven hoists, winches, cranes, or industrial lifts using hand levers, foot pedals, and throttles. Secure, balance, and monitor loads to keep weights within safe capacity limits. Conduct pre-shift inspections of cables, hooks, brakes, and control panels before each use. Coordinate load movements with ground crews and supervisors using hand signals, radios, or bells. Maintain operational logs, lubricate equipment, and report mechanical malfunctions.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate. One to five years of related experience in warehousing, construction, or mining. Powered Industrial Truck certification or applicable local hoist/crane operator licensing.
