Salary: $80-90KAn established insurance managing general agency (MGA) and wholesale insurance organization is seeking an E&S Underwriter to join its team in Montvale, New Jersey. The organization works with insurance agents, brokers and carrier partners across commercial, professional, personal and specialty insurance markets. This position is well suited for an underwriter who can independently evaluate commercial risks, determine program eligibility, support pricing decisions and build productive relationships with insurance agents and brokers. Wholesale E&S experience is preferred, and transportation or trucking underwriting experience is especially valuable.
Qualifications: Producer’s license and at least three years of insurance experience. Prior underwriting experience with knowledge of coverage forms, exposures and standard underwriting practices. Wholesale E&S, surplus-lines or MGA underwriting experience preferred. Experience independently reviewing submissions, evaluating exposures and determining whether risks fit underwriting guidelines. Experience with risk selection, rating/pricing and preparing quotes. Ability to recognize risks outside established program guidelines and work within assigned underwriting authority. Experience working directly with insurance agents and/or brokers. Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work the hybrid schedule associated with the Montvale, NJ office.
Preferred Experience: Auto Physical Damage (APD) and Motor Truck Cargo (MTC) underwriting experience. Experience evaluating and pricing trucking or transportation risks. Commercial auto, transportation or other specialty commercial underwriting experience.
What You’ll Do: Review applications, loss-control reports, loss history and supporting documentation to evaluate risk and program fit. Assess catastrophe exposure, loss frequency and severity, and other relevant risk factors. Rate or verify policy pricing and prepare insurance quotes. Review new business and renewal submissions and determine eligibility within available programs and underwriting guidelines. Request missing underwriting information and respond to agent inquiries. Review renewals, endorsements and cancellations. Work with agents, brokers and insurers throughout the underwriting and placement process. Maintain accurate account and underwriting information within company systems. Conduct agent marketing visits and maintain productive relationships with agency partners.

Salary range: $80,000–$95,000 annually. This is a full-time hybrid position associated with the Montvale, New Jersey office in Bergen County.
