Job Description:
We are seeking a front facing Personal Lines Underwriter to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating and managing risks associated with personal insurance policies, ensuring accurate and fair premium rates. Key responsibilities include reviewing inspection reports submitted by third-party vendors to determine underwriting eligibility and potential reimbursement amounts, and reaching out to clients with findings and feedback on their inspections. The role involves confirming coverage on homes, identifying hazards such as broken windows and foundation issues, and handling a high volume of inspections, aiming to review 30 inspections per day. Additionally, the underwriter will provide support and information to clients through phone calls and chats, service live requests from agents, and assist agents representing the company in selling business to their clients. Responding to inquiries regarding homeowners, auto, and boat policies, and managing phone calls based on the longest wait time and chats on a first-come, first-served basis are also part of the job.
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
