In this rewarding role, you will build supportive relationships with students and provide holistic academic, career, and personal guidance to help them achieve their educational and professional goals. Through individualized advising, proactive outreach, and collaboration with faculty, staff, and campus partners, you will empower students to make confident decisions, overcome challenges, and thrive at BYU.What You'll Do In This Position: Provide holistic academic, career, and personal advising to undergraduate studentsDevelop personalized graduation and academic improvement plans with studentsConduct proactive outreach and connect students with appropriate resources and supportDocument advising interactions and track student progress using AIM, MYMAP, and SalesforceMaintain current knowledge of curricula, graduation requirements, university policies, procedures, and campus resourcesCollaborate with departments, faculty, staff, and campus partners to support student successParticipate in professional development, committees, graduation activities, student programs, and office initiativesWhat Qualifies You For This Role: Required A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.Bachelor's DegreeExcellent written, verbal, listening, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skillsAbility to contribute to a unified team effort and maintain a pleasant, courteous, and professional presence in an office settingAbility to interact effectively with a wide variety of students and circumstances, including distressed students, challenging situations, and stressful seasonsStrict attention to accuracy, organization, confidentiality, efficiency, and timelinessComputer proficiency with basic office software, systems, and equipmentCommitment to ongoing professional developmentPreferred 2 years advisement related experienceAcademic advising certificate and/or micro credentials (e.g. Appreciative Advising, NACADA Certificate), NACADA Micro Credentials in Academic AdvisingKnowledge of and ability to apply advising theories and techniques, including college student development, multicultural challenges, advising as coaching, appreciative advising, and motivational interviewingAbility to apply general advising skills, including reflective listening, assessing student knowledge, providing recommendations and appropriate referrals, and helping students identify obstacles and develop solutions and goalsFamiliarity with the BYU environment, policies, procedures, and student resourcesApplication Deadline: Friday, October 9, 2026 at 11:59 pm (MST) Required Documentation - To be considered, your application must include the following materials: ResumeCover LetterWhat We Offer In Return:401k. Pay Grade: 51 Typical Starting Pay: $28.50 to $37.25 an hour
