About the role

Our client, a major U.S. airline, is looking for an IO Psychology Technical Project Manager to support their enterprise-wide talent assessment strategy. One year contract with possible extension, hybrid in Chicago (2-3 days onsite). This person will design, build, and validate pre-hire assessments, conducting job analyses and psychometric validation, then manage the assessment lifecycle end to end while working closely with senior stakeholders, HR partners, and external vendors. Looking for someone with real hands‐on experience building and validating assessments themselves, not just administering or interpreting them, comfortable managing project timelines and stakeholder relationships independently. This position is W-2 only. We do not work with third-party firms or C2C arrangements for this role.
Core Responsibilities: Conduct job analyses to ensure assessments are role-relevant, valid, and legally defensible Design and validate pre-employment assessment tools in line with professional and legal standards Analyze assessment data for fairness, validity, and business impact Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to implement and monitor assessments Translate technical and statistical results into clear, actionable recommendations for business leaders Support documentation and compliance efforts to meet legal and regulatory standards Manage the full assessment lifecycle across multiple concurrent initiatives Contribute to training initiatives on effective interviewing and assessment use Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) Advanced education in Industrial-Organizational Psychology or related field 3+ years applied experience in pre-hire assessment design and validation Strong knowledge of psychometric principles, legal guidelines, and personnel selection best practices Demonstrated project management experience and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels Strong analytical skills with ability to convey results to non-technical audiences Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) Aviation industry experience AI familiarity, including understanding of how coding or technical assessments are built and measured Workday experience (client recently transitioned from Taleo) Hands‐on experience with HackerRank, CodeSignal, or Workera Key Competencies and Behaviors Comfortable building assessments from scratch and defending the methodology behind them Strategic thinker who can translate technical/statistical findings for executive audiences Works well across multidisciplinary teams including HR, business leaders, and external vendors Adaptable and collaborative, comfortable driving adoption and change across the organization Can manage multiple high-priority assessment initiatives simultaneously and shift priorities as needed Location: Chicago, IL Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite per week Contract runs 1 year, potential for extension Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $42.00 and $60.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
