About the role

Students are looking to spend a year in the United States as an exchange student. These like Pia, Chiara, Daniele, and Tjorve from Germany and Italy love soccer and other sports. Why host with AFS?With over 75 years of experience and 100 years of history, AFS is a leader in international high school exchange. One thing that sets us apart is our network of almost 3,000 volunteers throughout the U.S. Many of our volunteers have hosted international exchange students or studied abroad with AFS. These local volunteers support families, students, and schools in gaining the most from their hosting experience. Extend Your FamilyHost families often develop close relationships with their student's family, and many find opportunities to visit them long after they've returned home.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
