About the role
- Monitors classroom or student as assigned and intervenes proactively with classroom removal, counseling and classroom return
- Liaison closely with teachers and behavior team to ensure effective plans of intervention and behavior management
- Documents students behaviors; identify and systematically track target behaviors
- Supports clients under Program Services during non-school hours & school closures
- Ensures that all campus transitions of students to meals, classes, medical appointments, etc. are completed in a timely and safe fashion
- Administers counseling intervention with students in a professional manner and consistent with school policies
- Two or more years of prior experience working with emotionally disturbed adolescents/children preferred
- Working knowledge of crisis intervention skills and the medical and emergency procedures
- Ability to pass and utilize Crisis Prevention Intervention (C.P.I.) and/or Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training (T.C.I.) within three months of employment
- Ability to pass and utilize First Aid and CPR Certification within three months of employment
- A valid California drivers license and a driving record acceptable to the Company's insurance carrier
- Dependent upon the client population, prior experience working with severely emotionally disturbed or handicapped students or students with Autism is preferred
- Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional, physical examination, and drug testing
