About the role

Advanced Health Science Program The Advanced Health Science program offers high school juniors and seniors numerous opportunities to prepare for various healthcare careers, including nurse-practitioner, midwife, speech-language pathologist, dentist, and veterinarian. Housed at the Blue Springs Career & Innovation Center, this program provides a comprehensive introduction to the medical field, including human anatomy, CPR certification, and phlebotomy training. In Advanced Health Science I, juniors receive foundational training, while seniors in Advanced Health Science II complete clinical rotations at several local medical facilities, gaining exposure to geriatrics, pediatrics, and physical therapy. Students will accumulate 100 hours of clinical experience in the hospital's geriatric care unit, preparing them to test for their Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license and earn college credit from the University of Central Missouri and Metropolitan Community College. With over 90% of our Health Science students continuing on to college, this program also includes a three to four-month internship in specialty healthcare areas during the senior year, enhancing their skills and career readiness. Entry into the program is competitive, favoring students with strong attendance, a GPA of 3.25 or higher, and an interest in health sciences. Get ready to explore the exciting possibilities in healthcare!

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
