About the role

Are you comfortable sitting at a deathbed? Has it been at least one year since someone close to you has died? Do you have time each month to be on-call when someone's death is imminent? If so, Lily Hospice would love to talk with you. We are building our team of volunteers in our end-of-life/11th hour/vigil program in Eau Claire and surrounding areas. This is a flexible position, with no set hours. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who is compassionate, calm, and comfortable with the dying process. When a patient has moved to end stages of life, and they are no longer conscious, we will call upon our vigil volunteers to stay with the patient and possibly the patient's loved ones. Volunteers will work in shifts, according their own ability and availability. We will provide training, supervision and guidance. Every member of our Lily Hospice staff team loves and appreciates volunteers. We will support you along the way. Our commitment to you: A flexible schedule at locations convenient for you, initial and ongoing training, support from our hospice staff team, andongoing guidance and education. If you have questions about the Lily Hospice vigil volunteering or other volunteer opportunities, contact Laura, Volunteer Coordinator at 715-492-2633 or lcunningham@lilyhealthcare.org

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
