POSITION PURPOSE:
The Senior Staff Systems Engineer is the technical leader within an New Product Introduction (NPI) group. They are responsible for system-level design and execution of complex product development initiatives. This role leads the cross-functional engineering effort on an NPI, from concept through to commercialization. They ensure that product metrics are being met, including performance, cost, manufacturability, and quality.
The Senior Staff Systems Engineer serves as the primary technical authority for the assigned NPI team, providing system-level design guidance, advanced problem solving expertise, and mentorship to other engineering team members.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead system-level development for NPI projects. NPI project may include pursuing cost reduction opportunities, implementing new products or technologies, increasing performance or efficiency in existing products within BAC’s current portfolio.
Estimate and achieve system-level performance objectives, including, but not limited to, thermal performance, airflow, power, sound, cost, etc.
Anticipate and mitigate system-level risks through advanced modeling, simulation (CFD/FEA), performance analysis, and failure mode assessments.
Drive root cause analysis efforts for complex challenges on NPI prototypes and testing
Analyze competitor performance to ensure that BAC maintains a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other Systems Engineers and Design Engineers.
Ensure compliance with global regulatory codes and standards including CTI, GB, UL, ASME, CE, PED, and other applicable requirements.
