Job Overview: We are looking for a Senior Word Press Full Stack Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Word Press, PHP, React, and GraphQL to build and support scalable, high-traffic digital content platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep Word Press development experience combined with modern frontend engineering and API development. This role requires someone comfortable working across the CMS, frontend, APIs, integrations, caching, performance, and production environments.
Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and enhance enterprise-scale Word Press applications and content platforms. Develop custom Word Press plugins, themes, Gutenberg blocks, custom post types, custom fields, and taxonomies using PHP.Build modern, responsive frontend applications using React, Java Script, and Type Script. Design and integrate GraphQL APIs connecting Word Press with React-based frontend applications. Work with GraphQL schemas, resolvers, query optimization, caching, authorization, and API evolution. Develop and support headless/decoupled Word Press architectures. Integrate Word Press with REST/GraphQL APIs, webhooks, third-party content feeds, scheduled jobs, search/indexing solutions, and caching layers. Support complex content management and editorial/publishing workflows. Troubleshoot production issues across Word Press, PHP, React, GraphQL APIs, caching, and external integrations. Optimize applications for scalability, performance, Core Web Vitals, SEO, and accessibility/WCAG.Collaborate with product, design, editorial, engineering, and other technical/non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills: 8+ years of overall software engineering experience.5+ years of hands-on Word Press development experience. Strong hands-on experience with PHP and custom Word Press development. Strong experience developing custom Word Press plugins and themes. Strong hands-on experience with React and modern Java Script/Type Script. Deep hands-on experience with GraphQL, including API integration and optimization. Experience with headless/decoupled Word Press architectures. Strong understanding of Word Press content modeling, including Gutenberg, custom post types, custom fields/meta, taxonomies, and publishing workflows. Experience integrating applications through REST/GraphQL APIs and third-party services. Experience supporting scalable or high-traffic production applications. Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills. Understanding of responsive design, accessibility, SEO, Core Web Vitals, caching, and secure development practices. Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills: Experience with Word Press VIP or similar enterprise/high-traffic managed Word Press platforms. Experience with WPGraphQL.Experience building large-scale publishing, media, news, or other content-heavy digital platforms. Mandatory Technical Stack Word Press + PHP + React + GraphQLCandidates must be comfortable working onsite in New York City 3 days per week and attending an in-person interview as part of the selection process.
