About the role
Overview:
We are seeking a licensed Structural Engineer to support the planning, analysis, design, coordination, and execution of structural systems on complex construction projects. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys collaborating with project teams, architects, consultants, and trade partners and who wants to deepen their technical expertise while remaining closely connected to both field and office operations.
Responsibilities:
Support the planning, analysis, design, and coordination of structural systems, including foundations, structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and related building components
Perform structural calculations and analyses for gravity, lateral, and temporary loads in accordance with applicable codes and standards
Develop complete structural engineering documents, including plans, details, calculations, and specifications
Review drawings and specifications for constructability, coordination, and code compliance
Assist with structural scope development, system selection, connection concepts, and construction sequencing strategies
Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Superintendents, architects, and trade partners to resolve design and field issues
Participate in coordination meetings with project teams, specialty engineers, trade partners
Review structural submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and delegated-design documents
Conduct field observations to verify that structural work aligns with drawings, specifications, and design intent
Support evaluation of existing structures, temporary conditions, repair solutions, and project closeout documentation
Uphold JP Cullen’s standards for safety, quality, and teamwork on every project
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural Engineering or equivalent registration in the applicable jurisdiction.
Ability to obtain and maintain additional state or regional licenses as required.
At least 12+ years of progressive engineering experience in structural system design, analysis, and project execution.
Knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, wood, foundations, and lateral-force-resisting systems
Working knowledge of applicable building codes, material standards, and structural design requirements
Ability to read, interpret, and produce construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports
Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines
Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
Willingness to work in both office and active jobsite environments
