About the role

Burner/Torch OperatorSA Recycling, a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry, is actively looking for an experienced and skilled Burner/Torch Operator. As a Burner/Torch Operator you will play a crucial role on our production team, and be responsible for the accurate cutting of oversize or large ferrous material through use of an oxy-fuel torch to an acceptable size as determined by the steel mill. Your expertise in operating torch cutting equipment will contribute to the success of the team. As a Burner/Torch Operator you must be able to work outside in all weather conditions while wearing the appropriate safety and weather protection gear. Identify and assess material to determine the appropriate method to cut the material to the desired specifications. Inspect and maintain all torch equipment to ensure safe and efficient working conditions. Inspect and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards. Work in a hot environment for long periods of time while wearing several layers of fire protective clothing and other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including a hard hat, face shield, leather gloves and a respirator. Strictly adheres to all company and safety rules and regulations regarding the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Inspect and maintain work area for fire control and to eliminate trip/fall hazards. Qualifications for a Burner/Torch Operator: High School Diploma or GEDBi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus 2 years experience operating an Oxy-Fuel torch highly preferred General knowledge of scrap metal processing preferred Mechanical background preferredPLEASE NOTE: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work to be performed by individuals assigned to this job.
