Role Description:
The Editor will work on a part-time, remote basis to support Mutah University’s academic and institutional publications. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and editing manuscripts, articles, reports, and web content for clarity, consistency, and adherence to MU’s editorial and style guidelines. The role involves improving structure, grammar, and tone, ensuring accuracy of references and data, and coordinating with authors, faculty members, and staff to refine content. The Editor will also help align materials with MU’s strategic communication goals, maintain quality standards across English-language documents, and meet agreed timelines and project milestones.
Qualifications:
Strong skills in editing, proofreading, and copyediting for academic and institutional content.
Excellent command of written English, including grammar, style, and clarity, with attention to detail.
Experience working with academic publications, research papers, or university communications.
Ability to collaborate remotely with faculty, researchers, and administrative staff in different time zones.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Linguistics, Journalism, Communications, Education, or a related field.
Familiarity with academic style guides (e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago) and citation practices is highly beneficial.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects on a part-time basis.
Prior experience in higher education or research institutions, especially in an international or multicultural context, is an advantage.
