Job Description: Our client is a large, self-perform heavy industrial contractor building power generation, pulp & paper, metals and chemical facilities. Its power group is growing, and the estimating team needs an experienced estimator to add technical depth.
Position Summary: The Senior Estimator builds conceptual through detailed estimates for power projects of $5M to $100M+. You will price the work the way it is actually built in the field.
What You Will Be Doing: Running quantity takeoffs across mechanical, piping, electrical, structural steel and civil scopes. Pricing heavy equipment installation: turbines, HRSGs, boilers, condensers, pumps and BOP. Developing labor productivity and crew assumptions for self-perform craft. Gathering and leveling vendor and subcontractor quotes. Working with operations on constructability, risk and bid strategy.
Required Qualifications: 7–10+ years of heavy industrial estimating experience. Power generation estimating experience. Combined-cycle is preferred; gas-fired, simple-cycle, cogeneration/CHP or HRSG work also counts. Multi-discipline estimating ability (mechanical, piping, electrical/E&I). Proficiency in Timberline/Sage Estimating, MC2, WinEst or similar.
Preferred Qualifications: Full combined-cycle plant estimates (CT, HRSG, steam turbine and BOP). Pulp & paper, metals or chemical estimating. Self-perform contractor background. Not a fit: Renewables-only (solar/wind) estimators are not the target for this search. Compensation Relocation assistance available. Work Environment Roughly 70–80% in the office, on a collaborative team that works closely with operations and project leadership.
