About the role
- Must be able to drive defensively under varying traffic conditions and inclement weather.
- Must drive with the safety and security of the passengers as first priority.
- Must maintain a detailed and accurate log of mileage, gas used, routine maintenance, cleaning, etc.
- Must be able to teach students the safety standards and rules of the school bus.
- Must demonstrate ability to operate all vehicle types used in transporting pupils in the school district.
- Must be knowledgeable of the geographic service area of the school district.
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of rules and regulations promulgated by local, state, and federal authorities.
- Must demonstrate ability to be firm, fair, and consistent when disciplining students.
- Must demonstrate ability to be alert and exercise good judgment in all aspects of driving the vehicle and in handling students. Approved by School Board 6/14/2022 Contacts
- Has contact with students, staff, and parents.
- Candidates must possess a Class B CDL with Air Brake, Passenger, and "S" Endorsements.
- Must have good hearing and at least 20/40 vision in each eye with or without glasses or contact lenses.
- Must be in good physical health as determined by a physical examination.
- Must have a good driving record and patience with children.
- Must hold and maintain current CPI certification.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrates good communication skills with parents and professionalism in a variety of situations.
- Must complete and pass a criminal history background check according to applicable laws and school board policies.
- Will be required to comply with the drug and alcohol testing guidelines provided through the Department of Transportation.
- Must comply with all rules and regulations pertaining to safety.
- Must be able to speak English (speak, read, write, and comprehend).Working Conditions/Safety Hazards

- May be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
