About the role

HIRING: Senior Hardware Design EngineerFC Design Services LLC · Mason, Ohio · Hybrid (2–3 days/week on-site)About FCDSFC Design Services is an electronics design and contract manufacturing company based in Mason, Ohio. We design custom electronics for our customers and assemble everything from prototypes to high volume on our SMT focused assembly line. We're a small, fast-moving team, and no two projects look alike.
The Role: We're looking for a senior hardware engineer who can take a client's idea from a rough concept to a working board and who enjoys switching between very different projects. You'll own schematic capture and PCB layout, everything from basic mixed signal control boards to RF and high-speed designs. Lead client projects from kickoff through prototype and into production.
What You'll Do: • Lead client hardware projects end-to-end, from requirements and architecture through prototype bring-up and release to production.• Create schematics and multilayer PCB layouts for mixed-signal, RF, and high-speed digital designs.• Design controlled-impedance and high-speed interfaces, including stackup planning and signal integrity.• Serve as the primary technical contact for clients: scope work, run design reviews, and explain tradeoffs.• Bring up and debug boards in the lab with oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analyzers, and other test equipment.• Work with our manufacturing team on DFM/DFT so designs build cleanly the first time.• Manage several projects at once and adapt as priorities shift.
What You Bring: • 5–8 years of hands-on hardware design experience.• A BSEE, a BSCpE, or equivalent experience.• Strong schematic and PCB layout skills in Altium Designer. Bonus points for KiCad experience. • Hands-on RF and/or high-speed layout experience, including impedance control, grounding, and signal integrity.• A track record of owning designs from concept through production.• Comfort working directly with clients and explaining technical decisions clearly.• Self-direction and a genuine enjoyment of variety.
Nice to Have: • Microwave or mm Wave PCB design experience (20+ GHz).• Experience with STM32, Nordic, ESP32, or similar microcontroller platforms.• Background in defense, aerospace, or medical products, and familiarity with IPC standards.• Prior experience at a design consultancy or product development firm. Location & Schedule This is a hybrid role with 2–3 days per week on-site at our Mason, Ohio shop. Candidates must live within commuting distance of Cincinnati or Dayton.
Compensation & Benefits: 100-140k · Health care, PTO, flexibilityFC Design Services is an equal opportunity employer.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
