About the role
Operations Manager - Water Transfer Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Operations Manager - Water Transfer with a strong background in oilfield Water Transfer operations to oversee daily field and business functions. This role will lead 50–60 employees, managing workforce productivity, scheduling, safety compliance, hiring, and personnel matters. Responsibilities also include overseeing billing, budgeting, P&L, and operational costs. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who can effectively delegate, make sound decisions, and independently drive operational efficiency and business growth.
Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and direct a crew of 50–60 field technicians, supervisors, and support personnel.
Manage workforce productivity, high-volume scheduling, crew logistics, and shift rotations to ensure continuous field coverage.
Oversee timekeeping, attendance tracking, personnel matters, and field accountability.
Manage full lifecycle hiring and HR duties, including recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, and terminations.
Direct daily oilfield water transfer operations and field projects, ensuring optimal equipment utilization, execution, and job performance.
Independently drive operational efficiency, field productivity, and business growth to meet or exceed company and client goals.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring seamless execution and rapid resolution of operational challenges.
Maintain full P&L accountability and oversee operational costs for regional water transfer operations.
Prepare, track, and manage annual operational budgets and project costs.
Oversee accurate client billing, ticketing processes, job costing, and expense management to ensure healthy profit margins.
Champion a safety-first culture and ensure safety compliance across all field locations.
Enforce compliance with company HSE policies, OSHA standards, and state/federal regulatory guidelines.
Conduct regular site audits, safety meetings, and incident investigations to maintain an exceptional safety record.
Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on experience in oilfield water transfer operations, including extensive knowledge of high-volume water transfer equipment, pumps, layflat hose systems, and manifold setups.
Proven track record of managing and scaling crews of 50–60 field employees.
Demonstrated experience managing P&L, budgeting, ticketing, client billing, and controlling operational costs.
Strong leadership ability to effectively delegate, make sound decisions, and work independently.
Exceptional workforce scheduling, time management, and accountability enforcement capabilities.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead crews effectively and represent the company to corporate clients.
In-depth knowledge of oilfield HSE regulations and a proven history of maintaining safety compliance in high-risk environments.
