About the role

ABOUT THE POSITION The Spark Justice Fund (SJF) is a donor collaborative launched in 2019 that supports efforts to end the correctional control of people of color and the harms inflicted by the criminal legal system on families and communities of color in the United States. SJF supports efforts to decarcerate - this means supporting grassroots organizing and campaigns at the local and state levels aiming to reduce the number of people under pretrial supervision or detention, closing jails, and advancing transformative visions of pretrial justice led by communities most impacted by incarceration. The Program Director serves in a leadership position — managing, coaching, and supporting a dedicated program team of staff and at times, consultants. The Director develops and implements program strategies, including fundraising, donor engagement/relationships, grantmaking, and capacity building/ technical assistance to grantees, and works closely with other collaborative funds to connect their vision, processes, and strategic direction with the work across Borealis as a whole.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
