Full-Stack Implementation Engineer PayStandards · The AI Platform for PayLocation: New York, NY / Remote (US)
Type: Full-time
Target start: November 2026 About PayStandardsPayStandards has built the AI platform for compensation decisions. Our solutions are used by large enterprises across industries. We are a high-growth applied AI company that exists to reward people effectively for their contributions. We deliver AI-native solutions with governance at our core. Our agents recommend, humans approve, every trace is stored. Workflows are deterministic state machines; the LLM narrates and explains, the workflow decides. The platform is engineered to EU AI Act high-risk requirements and runs under an ISO 42001 AI management system alongside SOC 2 and GDPR controls. If you are an exceptional engineer who loves building dynamic AI solutions that have to hold up in front of a bank's architecture review board, this is that job.
The role:
You will be the important engineer who takes a signed enterprise customer from contract to a live, configured, tested deployment, and who owns the shared application surfaces that make that repeatable. At our size a specialist is blocked half the time; customization work touches configuration, API, and UI in the same week, which is why this role is full-stack. Client implementation Own customization phases as engagements sign: Year-End, Pay Transparency, and Pay Equity configuration, plus agent configuration for new customers. Run per-client QA and simulation triage ahead of each customer simulation and parallel run. These simulations happen immediately before a customer's live comp cycle; a slipped simulation is a lost year, not a slipped sprint. Write functional specs for client configurations and edge cases so product design stays focused on design. Join the on-call rotation for production rollouts, where we commit to white-glove support.
Platform:- Own the core application lane: main and submit-approval screens, build-cycles screen, CSV upload and management, user onboarding screens, and results-download APIs.
- Build client-specific UI states on a configuration-driven model so the core product line never forks per customer.
- Contribute to the agent workflow layer: tool definitions, approval routing, trace capture, and the guardrails that bound what an agent can recommend.
- Our stack
- Frontend: Next.js, React, TypeScript (hosted on Render)
Backend: Python FastAPI for the recommendation engine and agent services; Node/TypeScript for application APIsData: PostgreSQL (Supabase with row-level security; per-tenant AWS RDS), Snowflake + dbt for the analytics layerAI layer: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google models behind our own BYOK LLM key router; tool-calling agents on deterministic workflow state machines; batch generation is deterministic by default
Cloud and security: AWS (Cognito, KMS with per-tenant customer-managed keys, Secrets Manager, S3, WAF), Cloudflare, WorkOS for SSO/SAML, SCIM, and audit-log streaming
Integrations: Kombo and Finch for HRIS, ATS, and payroll connectivity
Ops and compliance: GitHub Actions CI/CD with SAST/SCA gates, Datadog, VantaWhat we're looking for 5+ years of full-stack experience centered on TypeScript, Next.js, and Node, with solid SQL. Supabase or Postgres experience is a plus; working Python is a plus.
Customer-facing delivery or forward-deployed experience. You have sat across from a client's team, understood their edge cases, and shipped the thing.
Comfort owning configuration-driven enterprise features end to end: config model, API, and UI.Judgment about multi-tenant systems, data isolation, and access control. You will work inside a compliance-heavy environment and you will not find that annoying.
Clear written communication. Functional specs and client-facing documentation are part of the job.
Fluency with AI coding tools as a normal part of how you work, and a critical eye for what they produce.
Nice to have:
compensation, HR, or people-analytics domain exposure; HRIS integration experience (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, or via an aggregator); experience shipping LLM-backed features with evals and traces; enterprise identity work (SAML, SCIM).Compensation and how to apply
