About the role
Location:
NYCTotal Comp: Base Salary + Competitive Bonus + Top Tier Benefits PackageA leading investment management firm is looking for a highly quantitative Financial Risk Consultant to join its Risk function, working on strategic projects across a sophisticated multi-asset investment platform. We are specifically looking for a candidate coming from a premier management consulting background with strong financial-markets exposure and a highly quantitative academic foundation. This is an opportunity to move from advising financial institutions to working directly inside an investment organization, partnering with senior Risk and investment leadership on some of the firm's most important risk initiatives.
The Role:
Lead complex risk and strategic projects across the investment platform. Analyze risk across portfolios, markets, liquidity and counterparties. Develop analytical frameworks for liquidity risk, counterparty exposure, stress testing and scenario analysis. Assess portfolio exposures, concentrations and vulnerabilities under changing market conditions. Conduct quantitative deep dives into emerging risks and areas of strategic importance. Work with large financial datasets to identify risk drivers and produce actionable analysis. Partner across Risk, Investments, Treasury, Quantitative Research, Data and Technology. Present analysis and recommendations directly to senior decision-makers.
What We’re Looking For:
Experience within a top-tier strategy or management consulting firm, ideally focused on financial services, capital markets or investment management. Strong experience across financial risk, market risk, liquidity risk, counterparty risk and/or capital markets. Highly quantitative approach to problem solving, with experience using financial models, data and analytical frameworks. Strong understanding of financial markets and ideally multiple asset classes. Python, SQL or similar quantitative/data-analysis experience advantageous. Ability to independently structure complex and ambiguous problems and drive them through to a clear conclusion. Excellent communication skills with experience presenting complex analysis to senior stakeholders. Strong STEM degree from a top-tier university, ideally Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science or another highly quantitative discipline.
The Opportunity:
The role offers a differentiated route from management consulting into investment management, with broad exposure across portfolio, market, liquidity and counterparty risk rather than being confined to a single risk discipline. You will work on high-priority projects with direct visibility to senior leadership and considerably more ownership over implementation and outcomes than a traditional advisory role.#Financial Risk #Management Consulting #Strategy Consulting #Market Risk #Liquidity Risk #Counterparty Risk #Quantitative Finance #Financial Markets #Investment Management #Hedge Fund
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
