About the Role: Our client is seeking a highly analytical Agricultural Economist and Analyst to provide critical insights and strategic guidance for their diverse agricultural portfolio based in the Free State province, with a remote work option. This role involves conducting in-depth market research, economic forecasting, and financial analysis to support decision-making in crop production, commodity trading, and investment strategies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in identifying market trends, assessing economic viability of projects, and developing strategies to enhance profitability and mitigate financial risks within the agricultural sector. This position is ideal for an experienced economist with a specialized understanding of agricultural markets.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive economic analysis of agricultural markets, including supply, demand, and price trends. Develop financial models and forecasts to assess the economic feasibility of new agricultural projects and investments. Analyze production costs, operational efficiencies, and market risks for various agricultural commodities. Provide strategic recommendations to management regarding market entry, diversification, and risk management strategies. Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and economic briefs for stakeholders and senior leadership. Stay abreast of relevant agricultural policies, trade agreements, and global economic factors impacting the sector.
Requirements: Master's degree or PhD in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Finance, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in economic analysis, preferably within the agricultural sector. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical software and modeling tools. Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly. Proven ability to work independently and deliver high-quality analytical work on time.
