Do you have a sharp eye for stories that shape the lives of younger Minnesotans, and a clear point of view on how to tell them on social platforms? Are you ready to take an idea from pitch to published video with independence and good judgment? Join MPR News as the Reverb Video Fellow, where you'll report, shoot and edit original social video about the people, places and issues that matter to young adults across Minnesota.
As a fellow, you'll work as a contributing member of Reverb, the MPR News social video team. You'll pitch and produce original stories, turn newsroom reporting into platform-native video for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and spend much of your time in the field gathering interviews and community voices across the state. You'll also have room to develop a recurring series or format of your own, use audience data to sharpen what works, and partner with reporters across the newsroom on coverage. Your work will reach hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans, and you'll leave with a portfolio and professional network that position you for a career in public media.
Reverb is a small team of reporters, producers and an editor who create news for younger and more diverse Minnesotans. We center their perspectives, answer their questions, celebrate them and explore how issues affect them in unique ways. We serve young adults the news how they want it (faster, shorter and scannable) and where they are (on their phones and on social media).
You can see our work at mprnews.org/reverb and on the MPR News TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
The goal of this fellowship is to provide you with immersive learning and real-world experience through impactful work. By the end of your fellowship, you will be able to:
Learn how to develop, pitch and produce platform-native video journalism that meets public media editorial standards
Learn how a multi-channel distribution strategy works in practice, including how one story is versioned across broadcast, digital and social platforms and why accessibility practices like captioning matter to reach
Gain hands‑on experience with the full short‑form video workflow, from field shooting through editing and publishing
Build skills in mobile and desktop editing tools used by the team
Sharpen your news judgment, story framing and understanding of journalism ethics as it applies to social platforms
Learn how audience data informs editorial decisions, including how to read platform analytics and benchmark performance
Gain a greater understanding of how a social video team operates inside a daily news organization, including how social strategy connects to audience development and membership

Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
