Role Description: The Certified Peer Support Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Winston-Salem, NC. This role involves using lived experience with recovery to provide hope, encouragement, and practical support to individuals receiving services. Day-to-day responsibilities include meeting with participants individually and in groups, offering emotional support, assisting with goal setting and recovery planning, and connecting individuals to resources in the community. The Specialist documents services accurately, collaborates with clinical and support staff, and participates in team meetings to coordinate care. The role also includes advocating for participant needs, helping to resolve challenges through problem-solving and troubleshooting, and maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality in all interactions.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong Communication and Customer Support skills to build trust, listen actively, and offer respectful, person-centered assistance. Candidates should possess Analytical Skills and Troubleshooting abilities to help individuals identify challenges, explore options, and develop practical solutions. Candidates should possess Technical Support skills sufficient to assist participants with basic technology use related to appointments, telehealth, or accessing online resources. Certified Peer Support Specialist credential (or eligibility to obtain) and demonstrated lived experience with recovery, with willingness to share that experience appropriately. Knowledge of behavioral health, recovery principles, and local community resources, with a commitment to harm reduction and recovery-oriented care. Ability to work on-site in Winston-Salem, NC, collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, and maintain accurate, timely documentation. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training or education in human services, social work, or a related field is beneficial. Background check eligibility and adherence to all organizational, ethical, and confidentiality standards.
