About the role
Position Overview:
Our client, a top-ranked AmLaw firm, is seeking a Senior Manager, Legal Pricing to join their New York team. You'll shape the firm's pricing and client engagement strategy, partnering directly with attorneys on tailored fee arrangements, building financial models, and benchmarking task-based billing. Leading a team of three, you'll also help modernize how the pricing function operates as it continues to grow.
Responsibilities:
Pricing & Fee Strategy Develop, negotiate, and implement tailored fee arrangements, including special provisions and engagement terms Build financial models and reusable templates for alternative pricing arrangements Refine individual fee proposals and identify pricing approaches for specific practice areas and industries Support firm-wide strategic pricing initiatives Benchmarking & Market Analysis Maintain and expand task-based billing benchmarks, defining workstreams, analyzing results, and templating model matters Track competitive market data and pricing trends, recommending updates to existing models Establish pricing metrics and monitor KPIsProcess, Systems & Reporting Streamline and automate pricing workflows Design reporting and systems to forecast and track client engagements against budget Log budgets in the firm's database and partner closely with the legal project management team Team Leadership Manage, coach, and develop a team of three Senior Analysts and Analysts Lead interviewing, selection, and training Oversee department projects, day-to-day operations, and long-range strategic planning, including team performance Qualifications 7+ years of legal pricing or finance experience, ideally in a law firm environment, including project management or budget-tracking experience 2+ years of direct management and team development experience Advanced proficiency in Aderant, 3E (Elite), or similar legal billing systems Advanced Excel skills with strong financial modeling ability Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable pricing recommendations Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to advise and influence partners
