Role Overview: As a Therapist-Recreational, you play a vital role in enhancing patient well-being through activity therapy. You¿ll develop and implement treatment plans, support patients in achieving their therapeutic goals, and foster socialization through recreational activities. What You Will Do: Conduct patient assessments and establish recreational/leisure therapy treatment goals. Evaluate patient progress and the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions. Coordinate and lead therapeutic recreational activities for groups of all sizes. Observe patient responses and encourage socialization during activities. Provide patients with community resources and information on therapeutic recreational activities.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience
  • Associates Degree/Technical Degree or higher in Recreational Therapy OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Licensure / Certification / RegistrationBLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association
  • Therapist specializing in Recreation credentialed from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Previous experience with Behavioral Health populations
Additional Information: 6W is a 20-bed acute inpatient Behavioral Health unit caring for adults with a variety of psychiatric and behavioral health needs. We have a collaborative interdisciplinary team and are looking for a Recreational Therapist who is engaging, creative, and comfortable working with an acute behavioral health population. The RT works closely with nursing, social work, and other members of the treatment team to provide structured therapeutic activities that promote coping skills, socialization, and patient engagement. Behavioral health experience is preferred.
