About the role

Hybrid Schedule: 2 days in office, 3 days remote*
Responsibilities:
Manage financial and compliance activities for sponsored and non-sponsored programs, including developing, monitoring, and adjusting budgets and conducting year-end closeouts. Interpret financial data, perform variance analyses, monitor monthly expenditures, and create forecasting and trending reports to prevent deficits and resolve funding shortfalls. Review, approve, and verify allowability for charges (such as sub-recipients, equipment, and lab costs), process non-payroll cost transfers, and reconcile payroll distributions and effort certifications. Collaborate with Principal Investigators and leadership to handle progress reports, budget modifications, continuous funding strategies, and requests for ancillary agreements or personnel changes. Assist with audit inquiry preparations for internal, sponsor, federal, or state audits while maintaining documentation consistent with general ledger standards.
Required Skills:
Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative analysis and identifying creative, effective solutions to problems. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential materials and communicate effectively with department budget and personnel. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively with limited supervision using solid organizational skills and excellent judgment. Proficiency in personal computer use and related software applications. Understanding of financial and institutional guidelines, including GAAP, NIH grants policy statements, FDP, OMB, and CAS regulations.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Hospital Administration, Public Administration, or a related business/healthcare field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).At least 5 years of progressive related experience in finance, accounting, business, or grants management. Experience with department budget management and interdepartmental personnel communications. Familiarity with clinical research environments, healthcare funding, and managing complex investigator grant portfolios.
