About the role
- Review court filings, notices, orders, and correspondence to identify and calendar critical deadlines
- Calculate deadlines based on applicable state and federal court rules, local rules, and scheduling orders
- Maintain accurate litigation calendars and docket records for active matters across multiple jurisdictions
- Monitor upcoming deadlines and distribute timely reminders to attorneys and legal staff
- Update docketing systems to ensure all case information, deadlines, and court events are accurately recorded
- Assist with case openings, matter maintenance, and litigation workflow management
- Generate and distribute docket reports, deadline summaries, and calendar updates
- Research court rules and procedural requirements to ensure accurate deadline calculations
- Coordinate with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and court personnel regarding scheduling and filing requirements
- Audit docket entries and calendar records to maintain accuracy and reduce risk
- Support electronic filing processes and monitor court notifications as needed
- Assist with special projects related to litigation operations, risk management, and process improvement
- Previous experience as a Litigation Docketing Specialist, Litigation Calendar Specialist, Docket Clerk, or related law firm professional
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court rules and litigation procedures
- Experience calculating litigation deadlines and managing complex legal calendars
- Familiarity with docketing software, case management systems, and legal technology platforms
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a large volume of deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities in a fast paced legal environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while maintaining responsiveness and productivity
- Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential legal information Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting multiple litigation practice areas including commercial litigation, insurance defense, labor and employment, intellectual property, personal injury, or complex civil litigation
- Familiarity with docketing platforms and automated calendaring systems
- Experience supporting attorneys across multiple offices and jurisdictions
- Knowledge of electronic filing procedures in both state and federal courts
- Experience conducting docket audits and implementing quality control measures
- Ability to identify potential calendaring issues and proactively recommend solutions
