Accountant 3 (Project Accounting), Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid) Phoenix, United States | Posted on 06/24/2026 Accountant 3 (Project Accounting), Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid) Location: Phoenix, AZ 85007, Hybrid (2 days onsite, 3 days remote) Type: Contract (1 year), full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Start: Late July 2026 (tentative) About the Role SunSoft Online is seeking an experienced Accountant for a contract opportunity with an Arizona state agency. This role focuses on project accounting and financial compliance, reconciling and closing project accounts to ensure timely release of funds, validating costs associated with project funding, and ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable federal regulations. Key Responsibilities Reconcile and close out projects to ensure timely release of funds Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal (FHWA) rules and regulations Analyze and validate costs associated with project funding Interact with federal agencies, local governments, and multiple internal departments Research project issues, provide solutions, and recommend process improvements Process adjustments and prepare final voucher forms for submission Required Skills and Knowledge Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field At least 1 year of accounting experience Strong analytical skills in researching and resolving financial and technical data issues Ability to analyze and interpret contract and financial data Ability to apply accounting and auditing principles to project analysis Good written and verbal communication Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Must be local to the Phoenix area (current location must be listed on resume) Available for an in-person interview within one week Able to start within two weeks of an offer Background check required #J-18808-Ljbffr
