About the role
Maintenance Technician An established recycling operation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with hands-on experience maintaining and repairing industrial balers, compactors, and related heavy equipment. This position requires strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with experience in hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Responsibilities:
Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on recycling equipment, vehicles, and facility machinery.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic problems.
Maintain and repair industrial balers, compactors, shredders, forklifts, and skid steers.
Service company trucks, including bobtails, roll-off trucks, tractor-trailers, and dry van trailers.
Perform routine inspections to identify issues before equipment failures occur.
Replace bearings, belts, chains, hoses, cylinders, motors, and other mechanical components.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems.
Assist with electrical troubleshooting when qualified.
Perform minor welding and fabrication repairs.
Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and a clean, safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Industrial maintenance experience with balers and/or compactors strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance independently.
Experience repairing conveyors, shredders, forklifts, mobile equipment, trucks, or trailers is valuable.
Welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
Strong safety awareness and ability to troubleshoot equipment failures efficiently.
