About the role
Working under the Director of Exhibits & Collections, the Assistant Curator is primarily responsible for ensuring the successful execution of all temporary and traveling exhibits. She/He/They may also assist with research and assets for the development of permanent exhibitions as well. Specifically, duties include:
Creating object lists
Drafting content briefs, summaries, and label copy
Researching and securing relevant assets and permissions
Assisting with daily exhibit maintenance, including turning lights on and off and cleaning
Corresponding with other MoSH departments and outside partners/sponsors
Assisting with exhibition budgeting
Other duties as requested
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a solid foundation in understanding how complex exhibitions are developed and executed, be a stellar researcher and collaborator, and have an eye for detail. Experience with historical research is a must. A Bachelor’s degree is required, and an advanced degree in Museum Studies or a related field is preferred.
