About the role

Utility Engineer New York, New York, United States Qualifications Solid time management skills and the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple projects and tasks with a high level of proficiency; acute attention to detail is required Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university or college A minimum of 10 years progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of central chilled water facilities, central steam facilities, and steam distribution systems, with at least five (5) of those years in an Engineer I or equivalent Must have some knowledge in heat loss/gain calculations, equipment selection, piping design, pump design, chillers, cooling towers, TES tanks, sand filters, air compressors, high-pressure steam boilers, steam manhole and steam expansion loop design, etc Proficient in design calculation software Preparation of calculations, reports, specifications, and presentations Must be knowledgeable in the Building Codes of NYS and ASHRAE standards Strong decision-making skills and the ability to respond to a complex set of circumstances Must have working knowledge of computers and software applications i.e., Microsoft Office suite and computerized maintenance management software Ability to read and interpret underground utility drawings, one-line electrical diagrams, P&I drawings, architectural and mechanical drawings Must be able to use AutoCAD to produce design drawings and sketches Excellent teamwork and communications skills Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English Must have a valid NYS Drivers license Trane Cen Tra Vac centrifugal water-cooled chillers ASHRAE 15-2016 Safety Standard for Refrigeration Systems Licensed Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training status in New York State Ability to read and understand underground utility maps Basic electrical and control system knowledge Standing, bending, and lifting, up to 20 lbs Ability to work in confined spaces Ability to climb fixed and portable ladders and work at heights up to 20 feet Use of personal protective equipment Use of private car may be required at certain times
