Technical Specification Sales Manager– Western U.S.Remote | $115,000–$135,000 Base + 40% Bonus | 40–60% Travel Our client, a leading provider of lighting control and energy management solutions, is seeking a Specification Sales Manager with a strong electrical background to cover the Western U.S. This role focuses on influencing projects at the design and specification stage, building relationships with consulting engineers, contractors, OEMs, distributors, and end users, and driving adoption of technically complex electrical solutions. The ideal candidate will be based in AZ, CA, WA, CO, NV, UT, OR, or ID.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and grow specification opportunities with consulting engineers, contractors, OEMs, distributors, and end users Influence project designs and specifications to drive product adoption Develop new business across electrical, lighting controls, and HVAC/R markets Build and maintain relationships with national accounts, facility managers, OEMs, and strategic customers Provide technical presentations, product training, and solutions-based consulting Develop and execute territory and account strategies to drive revenue growth Partner with sales and channel teams on strategic accounts and market expansion Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities Qualifications 5+ years of technical sales experience in the electrical industry Strong technical knowledge of electrical controls, lighting controls, HVAC/R, or related systems Proven success with consultative, specification-driven, or complex technical sales Ability to influence engineers, contractors, executives, OEMs, and other decision-makers Strong communication, relationship-building, and business development skills Comfortable working independently in a fully remote environment Willingness to travel 40–60%Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or related field; experience with OEMs, national accounts, electrical distribution, or manufacturer representative networks. Travel & Work-Life Balance Travel is approximately 40–60%, generally consisting of 2–4-day trips and averaging around 3 trips per month. The position provides significant autonomy over scheduling, with the goal of allowing the successful candidate to be home every weekend and plan travel around personal commitments. All business travel is reimbursed, and the employee independently books preferred airlines, hotels, and rental cars.
